It’s not always easy to remain calm and collected when making photos in public places. Thankfully, my own photo adventures have taught me that good manners can go a long way to ensuring a great travel photography experience.
If ever you get the opportunity to visit Iceland you really should make the effort to go beyond the Golden Circle tourist trail and visit the wonderful Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Here’s what I found in doing so.
Situated 60 km north of Bangkok, along the banks of the Chao Phraya River, Bang Pa-In Palace has remained the beautiful royal summer palace of the kings of Thailand since the seventeenth century.
Here's a classic view, through an archway, onto a bridge and towards the medieval Church Of Our Lady, Bruges in Belgium. It's one of my favorite black and white photos. Nonetheless, you might be surprised to discover that it's also one of the most difficult photos I've ever made.

Golden Rock and the Kyaiktiyo Pagoda, located at the top of Mt Kyaiktiyo in Myanmar, has been a site of worship for Buddhist devotees for over 2,500 years. I found viewing this truly beautiful structure to be a wonderful experience and I was deeply moved by the devotion of the faithful as I quietly observed them lighting candles, burning incense and chanting in front of the Golden Rock.
Remember the Sound Of Music and the lovely church where Maria married Baron von Trapp? During my visit and subsequent research I discovered things that watching the movie with my folks, all those years ago, couldn’t possibly have prepared me for.

The glorious Sacré Cœur is a sublime and architecturally splendid Roman Catholic church in Paris. A joy to visit, I'd rate Sacré Cœur as a must see site.

The Church Of Our Lady Bruges is one of the most famous tourist attractions in the old town of Bruges. It’s where you’ll find Michelangelo’s Madonna and Child statue.
If you’re traveling to the UNESCO World Heritage classified city of Bruges I recommend a visit to the Belfry of Bruges. The climb to the viewing platform is tough, but a simple technique enabled me to photograph through the protective security wire.
