Bali Photography Collection Updated
Have I got some great news to share with you. I’m really happy to announce that I’ve just updated my Bali Photography Collection. I’II be sure to add more photos from my time in Bali down the track. For now enjoy the lush, green vegetation; scenic rice fields; temples and statues; and people through this easy to view portfolio.
What’s Your Idea of a Good Time
Bali is a really lovely place with pristine beaches, dense jungles and a very vibrant culture. I did my research and knew to steer clear of Kuta. It’s just not for me and, these days, does not sit well with my idea of a good time.
I headed straight for the hill station of Ubud. Centrally situated with great food and accommodation options and a strong artistic community it was an ideal choice for me. And I couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay. The good folks at my hotel kept me comfortable and extremely well cared for. Here's a photo of a room at the Kajane Mua Hotel in Ubud, Bali.
Rest and Respite
Actually I headed to Bali at the end of a successful, albeit fairly torrid nine week photography trip to China, India and Thailand. I had become seriously ill in Kolkata and, after being bed ridden for most of my stay in Chennai, decided I needed a rest prior to heading back home to Australia. After a few days stop over in Thailand, where I received excellent medical care, I flew onto Bali where I was able to have a few very restful days, prior to heading out, albeit gingerly, to explore this island paradise.
The photo at the top of this post was made, from the side of the road, on one of several day tours I’d organized through my hotel. The driver, an incredibly efficient and caring individual, also acted as my guide. He spoke excellent English which, for me, is always a huge bonus. The photo was quite simple to make. It was just a matter of working to find a great composition, the process of which was aided by the use of my Really Right Stuff tripod, and waiting for some cloud cover to lower the intensity and contrast associated with the harsh tropical sunlight. Ten minutes spent in Lightroom and Photoshop and, voila, a publishable image.
Major Upgrade Coming
Actually I’m in the process of completing a major upgrade to all of the photo galleries on this site. Over coming weeks you can expect most of the current galleries to be substantially updated with new photos. I'II also be adding entirely new galleries to the site. It’s an exciting time and I appreciate the fact that so many of you return on a regular basis.
