Dawn_Scenes Creek_Great Ocean Road
Here's an image made on a bleak morning at Scenes Creek just outside Apollo Bay on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia. With the amazing sunrise for which I'd hoped not likely to eventuate, I turned my attention to the incoming tide and the foreground rock that had, no doubt, been worn down by time and tide over many years.
The misty blur in the water is achieved by shooting at a relatively long exposure. But it is the combination of exposure (Shutter Speed) and the speed at which the water is moving that determines the degree of blur. You'll notice that the water in the foreground is moving at a much faster rate, and is therefore more blurred, than that of the water further back in the frame.
The image was made with a Hasselblad X-PAN II camera and Hasselblad X-PAN 30mm f5.6 lens with Fuji Velvia 100 film. Image processing was conducted in Adobe Photoshop CS3.
